CTRL+ALT+MEME: The Halsafe Homelab Chronicles
Yo, what’s up, tech fam? I’m Halsafe, and welcome to the thunderdome of tech tales. Here, I’ll be spilling the beans on my journey through the wild world of homelabs (or as I like to call it now, my personal datacenter), sharing projects, new tools, and whatever else tickles my fancy in the realm of tech.
My love affair with computers started way back when Feed The Beast: Infinity Evolved dropped. I was all about that mod life, especially Applied Energistics 2. I mean, building a NAS in Minecraft? Mind blown. I spent countless hours building virtual datacenters and soaking up all the knowledge I could. I even went as far as recreating a Google Datacenter—yeah, you heard that right. Fast forward to 2018, fresh outta high school, and I knew tech was my jam. So, I jumped headfirst into a computer networking program at my local community college.
In that program, I soaked up everything—Windows servers, Linux servers, networking, you name it. Plus, I scored an internship gig as a technical intern. My first project? Building a NAS for the company (an epic 88TB, by the way). And that’s when the homelab bug bit me hard.
Starting small with just an old HP Pavilion desktop loaded up with Unraid, my homelab journey was born. But it wasn’t until 2024 that I went full beast mode. Now, I’m rocking a 12u rack jam-packed with servers and hosting services for others. Yeah, I’m living that datacenter dream.
As I stumble my way through this blogging thing, I’ll be dropping pics of my setup, sharing the nitty-gritty of my infrastructure, and laying down my hopes and dreams. This ain’t gonna be like those other homelab blogs out there. Nah, I’m all about that raw life—showcasing my wins, my fails, and everything in between. ‘Cause let’s face it, we all start somewhere, and I want this blog to be a beacon of realness in a sea of perfection.
So, buckle up, fam, ’cause we’re about to sip that juice together.
Stay techy,
Halsafe 🚀✌️
Yo, where’s the pics of that sweet setup?
